Athan P. Papailiou

Associate

 

Athan Papailiou is an associate in Pacifica’s litigation practice group.

Athan represents public and private clients in complex appellate and civil litigation. A broad-based counselor, Athan provides legal advice in numerous subject matters.

Before joining Pacifica, Athan served as a judicial law clerk to Justice Debra L. Stephens of the Washington State Supreme Court and to Judge Randall M. Howe of the Arizona Court of Appeals. In law school, Athan represented indigent clients on appeal through the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Pro Bono Program.

Athan is a civic leader and advocate in the Washington legal community. He currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Washington State Bar Association. His scholarly interests include juror decision-making. His research investigating the efficacy of jury instructions addressing the unreliability of eyewitness identification evidence was featured on NPR’s morning edition.

Athan lives on Shilshole Bay, where he enjoys running, biking, shopping at the Ballard Farmer’s Market, and Scandinavian design.
