Summary:

Pacifica was founded in 2011 to focus on appellate, governmental and commercial litigation; municipal finance; and complex project advice to public and private entities in the Pacific Northwest. The firm has grown to include 44 experienced attorneys who practice in the areas of municipal finance, public-private partnerships, litigation, appeals, public records, ethics, complex transactions, real estate, procurement, construction, school law and other areas of general municipal law for public and private sector clients. We are looking for a full time paralegal to join our dynamic litigation practice.

Responsibilities:

The litigation paralegal will work with our attorneys on all aspects of the litigation practice including, but not limited to the following:

  • Assist with all aspects of discovery and document management, including e-discovery on variety of platforms
  • Assist with all aspects of appeals including record preparation, brief coding, and argument support
  • Assist with all aspects of case preparation, hearing preparation, pretrial and trial support
  • Review documents and draft privilege logs
  • Provide technology and document/exhibit support for depositions, hearings and trials
  • Assist with correspondence, tracking and docket management as needed
  • Conduct internet research as needed
  • Coordinate depositions and assist attorney with deposition preparation
  • Interact with various government and court officials, clients and vendors

The employee is frequently required to stand, sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to push, lift and move items weighing up to 25lbs.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is a team player who loves to handle all of the details utilizing superior written and oral communication skills, exceptional judgment, professionalism and interpersonal skills. The Litigation Paralegal supports multiple attorneys and the successful candidate is able to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities. The position requires at least three years of litigation paralegal experience as well as excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook. A paralegal certificate is preferred, but not required. A strong background in e-discovery management is required. Experience with Pacifica’s current internal e-discovery platform Digital War Room (DWR) is a plus, although experience with similar e-discovery tools also would be helpful. A background in other applicable tools such as Westlaw, Courttrax, Trialpad and Pacer is also a plus.
