Final Seattle Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda (HALA) Recommendations Released to Mayor and City Council
Seattle Mayor Ed Murray’s affordable housing committee, known as the Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda (HALA), released its highly anticipated Final Advisory Committee Recommendations this week to the Mayor and Seattle City Council. The committee’s comprehensive package of 65 recommendations is aimed at balancing “the needs of a fast growing city with almost unimaginable new wealth and the acute needs of people who experience systemic inequities driven by issues of income, ethnicity, and race on a daily basis.”
The twenty-eight member, stakeholder committee is co-chaired by Pacifica Law Group partner Faith Pettis and philanthropic leader David Wertheimer, and was established in September 2014 to explore innovative ways to generate a net increase of 50,000 units of affordable and market rate housing in Seattle over the next decade in order to keep up with the city’s massive economic and population growth.
