Get to Know Pacifica – Faith Pettis

This week in Pacifica’s “Get to Know” series we are highlighting Faith Pettis. Faith is a partner and serves as bond counsel and outside counsel to state and local governments.

Attorney Faith PettisWhy did you choose your area of practice and what do you like most about it?

I was just lucky to stumble into the public finance world when I was a summer associate at the old Preston Thorgrimson Shidler Gates & Ellis law firm.  The work for public clients felt tangible, in line with my values and I loved the people I got to work with, both my colleagues and the clients.

Why did you choose to practice law at Pacifica Law Group?

I chose Pacifica because I wanted to practice with colleagues I respected and trusted and in order to be part of a firm that takes care of our public clients.  And last but not least, I wanted a place that “grows” young lawyers with the same care I was fortunate to grow up in.

WHAT KINDS OF VOLUNTEER, PHILANTHROPIC, OR COMMUNITY EVENTS ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU?

I’ve been lucky to get to work on affordable housing policy in a number of volunteer capacities.  Two of my recent activities include serving on the steering committees for the new Evergreen Impact Housing Fund, a new social impact investment fund managed by the Seattle Foundation, and for Sound Communities, an organization working on the creation of housing benefit districts.

What hobbies and activities do you participate in outside of work?

I love cross country skiing – specifically skate skiing.  My family – including our kids – are all opera buffs.  We sat through the entire Wagner Ring Cycle when the kids were 9 and 12.  We are avid travelers.  A favorite recent and intensely moving trip was to India, ending in the deeply spiritual city of Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges River.
