Taki Flevaris Honored as 2016 Outstanding Young Lawyer by King County Bar Association

Pacifica Law Group is very pleased to announce that Taki V. Flevaris has received the 2016 King County Bar Association’s Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. This annual award is given to a young lawyer who has made a significant impact on the practice of law and the administration of justice. It recognizes a combination of substantial contributions to the legal profession, to the King County Bar Association, and to the community, and also demonstrated excellence in the practice of law.

In addition to Taki’s outstanding legal work with Pacifica Law Group with Pacifica Law Group’s appellate, constitutional, and governmental litigation practice, he is actively involved in pro bono work and civic engagement. Taki has written and presented regarding equal access and equal treatment in our justice system and in the legal profession, advocated on behalf of various civic organizations acting as amicus curiae in state and federal courts, litigated on behalf of immigrants seeking asylum from persecution before federal immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and helped found a Seattle-based nonprofit serving at-risk youth through boxing, education, and community service. He also has been a member of the Executive Committee of the King County Bar Association’s Appellate Section, served as an Advocacy Fellow at the Korematsu Center for Law and Equality at Seattle University School of Law, and participated on Washington’s Task Force on Race and the Criminal Justice System. Taki recently has been leading an initiative at the Korematsu Center advocating for reforms to address cross-racial misidentification as a significant cause of wrongful convictions.

King County Bar Association 2016 award recipients will be honored at the association’s annual awards dinner on June 23, 2016.
