Special Election Dates and Resolution Filing Deadlines for the State of Washington

Washington state law establishes the special election dates on which cities, counties, school districts, and other municipal entities may submit bond or levy ballot measures to voters. State law also fixes the deadlines by which a municipality submitting such a measure must file an election resolution with its county auditor. Many county auditors also require that voter pamphlet materials, such as explanatory statements and pro/con committee appointments, be filed by these deadlines.

Most municipal bond issuers have covenanted to file annual financial information and operating data, and notice of certain events within 10 business days of their occurrence, via emma.msrb.org. As a reminder, issuers with bonds issued after February 27, 2019 must also provide notice of certain events regarding financial obligations (such as bank loans, private placement bonds, or certain capital or financing leases).
