Pacifica Law Group is delighted to announce the return of Greg Wong to the firm as a partner working at the convergence of law, government, business, policy, and politics. Wong rejoins the firm after serving as Deputy Mayor and General Counsel of the City of Seattle under former Mayor Bruce Harrell. He previously spent more than a decade at Pacifica, where he established his practice providing strategic advice and courtroom representation to public entities, businesses, and nonprofits on a diverse array of matters impacting the region’s people, politics, and communities.
Wong returns to Pacifica having added significant governmental executive experience to his legal acumen. As a Deputy Mayor, Seattle’s highest-ranking nonelected executive, he led strategic planning and execution of major public initiatives, balancing legal, political, operational, and communications considerations. He was involved daily in the executive management of policy initiatives, municipal operations, and crisis management for a city with an almost $9 billion budget and 14,000 employees. From architecting the city’s response to threats from the federal government, to leading on 2026 FIFA World Cup planning, Wong helped shepherd the City through several complex issues. Wong also led the Mayor’s Office external relations and intergovernmental affairs, working with local, state, tribal, federal, and international government officials and diverse stakeholders across the city. In addition, as the Mayor’s General Counsel, Wong provided guidance on the full spectrum of legal issues, from litigation to ethics to contracting and negotiations.
“All of us at Pacifica are excited to welcome Greg back to our partnership,” said Pacifica Managing Partner Denise Stiffarm. “We appreciate his dedicated service to the City of Seattle over the past few years. Our clients will greatly benefit from his experience and insight in city government, as well as his legal abilities and commitment, and we as a firm are enriched by his return as a colleague.”
At Pacifica, Wong will provide strategic advice and client support in several areas, including constitutional law, legislation and public policy, elections and ballot measures, private-public partnerships, governmental operations, complex organizational structures and deployment, ethics, investigations, municipal law, and crisis management and communications.
A graduate of University of Washington School of Law and Western Washington University, Wong has been passionate about civic engagement throughout his career. He previously served as President of the Schools First Coalition, where he led several successful Seattle School District levy campaigns. He was also President of the Washington State Budget & Policy Center, and the Seattle City Council appointed him to the City of Seattle Families and Education Levy Oversight Planning Committee. Prior to law school, he worked as a homeless and low-cost housing specialist, taught science to low-income students in the Mississippi Delta, and ran a tutoring center for children living in public housing.
Wong is part of a legacy of Pacifica attorneys who have entered public service. Nick Brown is currently the Attorney General of Washington; Kymberly Evanson is a judge in the U.S. Federal District Court for the Western District of Washington; Taki Flevaris is a King County Superior Court judge; Christopher Sanders serves as General Counsel to King County Executive Girmay Zahilay; and current Pacifica partner Matthew J. Segal previously served as a King County Superior Court judge.
